VILLAGE DIVE CLUB UPDATE

The Village Dive Club is a non-profit club for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender scuba divers, or anyone with a passion for diving – from experienced divers to new divers to those who want to become a diver.  Our activities include club meetings, social events, dive trips and supporting GLBT causes.  We meet, we dive, we laugh, we share, we travel, we grow . . . all for the love of diving!  Learn more on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&gid=307150844463 or our website at www.villagediveclub.org.

 UPCOMING EVENTS:

Thursday, June 10.  6:30-8:00PM.  Join the Village Dive Club for summer cocktails at View Bar in Chelsea (232 Eighth Avenue @ 22nd Street).  We will be giving away two sets of tickets to The Center's Garden Party 27 held on Monday, June 21, from 6-10PM.

Saturday, June 19.  2:00PM.  The Coney Island Mermaid Parade.

The Coney Island Mermaid Parade started in 1983 by the same non-profit arts organization that revived the Coney Island Circus Sideshow. It was partly inspired by a Mardi Gras parade that used to be held there until 1954 and combined Coney Island's carnival culture with a wacky new-age, counter-culture, performance art sensibility. How much of that original spirit has survived it's increasing popularity over the years remains to be seen, but it should be a fun afternoon if you can appreciate the unique history of this place.

Join us for this celebration of the beginning of summer with floats and costumes representing all things to do with the sun, sand and sea. Check out our Facebook page or website for details or e-mail villagediveclub@gmail.com if you'd like to join us.
